The Monarch Ultra is a story about the power of the human spirit and our connection to the land, and the shared resiliency of the runners & monarchs. We hope that this project is just the beginning of a larger movement to help protect pollinator species worldwide. Since launching the Monarch Ultra in the fall of 2018, we've been creating partnerships across a wide range of conservation groups, including:
LITTLE RIVER WETLANDS PROJECTconnects people, schools and their community with the values of Indiana's wetland resources. They get their boots muddy while working towards the highest goals - quality of life, improvement and sustainment of their natural resources - for the betterment of their community.
MONARCH CITY USAwas created in 2015 in Maple Valley, Washington. They are a non-profit corporation working towards encouraging America’s 19,000+ municipalities to become supporters of the monarch butterfly by planting new monarch milkweed and nectar plants throughout their areas.
MONARCH JOINT VENTURE:Since 2009, the MJV has brought together partners from across the United States in a unified effort to conserve the monarch migration. This diverse partnership ranges from government agencies to NGOs, businesses, and academic institutions that work together to implement science-based conservation actions in the form of education, habitat, and research.
THE NATIONAL BUTTERFLY CENTERis a project of theNorth American Butterfly Association(NABA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation and study of wild butterflies in their native habitats. The 100-acre wildlife center and native species botanical garden contains trails for exploring, observation areas, educational exhibits and a plant nursery. MONARCH TEACHER NETWORK OF CANADA is a growing collective of educators and nature enthusiasts who teach and inspire people to connect with nature through hands-on training, teacher resources, and professional development workshops. They are committed to fostering a deeper connection to the natural world through explorations of art, science and environmental action.
BUTTERFLIES AND THEIR PEOPLE is a non-profit that employs local people to protect the Cerro Pelon Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary in Mexico. Their mission is to preserve the butterfly sanctuary by creating jobs for local people in forest and monarch conservation. The forest arborists participate in citizen-science projects, documenting natural regeneration and flora and fauna.
BEE CITY CANADA's mission is to inspire cities, towns, First Nations, schools, businesses and other organizations to take action to protect pollinators. They offer programs which recognize communities and organizations that are taking steps or are committed to future initiatives to help pollinators.
DAVID SUZUKI FOUNDATION's Butterfly Way Project is a citizen-led movement that’s bringing nature home to neighbourhoods throughout Canada, one butterfly-friendly planting at a time. The Butterflyway Project began in five cities in 2017. They recruited a team of volunteer Butterflyway Rangers in each community. Their mission: to plant networks of native wildflowers in yards, schoolyards, streets and parks.
SAVE OUR MONARCHS FOUNDATIONis a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to saving the embattled monarch butterflies. They are gardeners who believe that getting dirt under their fingernails and planting milkweed plants – the monarch caterpillar's only source of sustenance – is the best way to save the endangered butterflies. ECOSISTEMICA A.C. is a non-profit organization based in Mexico City that promotes and carries out studies focused on education, conservation and management of the natural and cultural diversity of Mexico as well as its dissemination.
OLEANDER ACRES RV RESORT is an RV Park in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. At Oleander Acres, there are plenty of wild birds and butterflies attracted to the native plants that are so lovingly grown there. All kinds of butterfly plants are a big part of the landscaping at Oleander Acres RV Resort in the Rio Grande Valley.
MONARCH, A LIVING RESORTcombines the need for private meeting and event space in a natural setting with sustainable technologies. As a full service 5-Star facility, planning and execution of events will be partnered with seclusion, creating an atypical experience for all guests. Utilizing programmatic design will enable the facility to attract a wide range of users.
MONARCH LEARNING LAB (MLL) focuses on educating people of all ages on the concepts and practices of sustainability. By providing hands-on learning opportunities, MLL engages participants of all educational levels with the hope of becoming a catalyst of change in their everyday lives. Additionally, MLL will partner with local organizations to assist and enhance their current sustainability initiatives.
